Adam is Chief Engineer at the Hydra Foundation, leading the technical direction, design and development of its software platforms. His expertise spans software architecture, full-stack development, cloud and on-premises infrastructure, real-time collaboration and applied artificial intelligence. Combining technical leadership with hands-on engineering, he works across the entire lifecycle of a system, from initial concept and architecture through to development, deployment and ongoing improvement.
His deep understanding of Hydra’s methods connects that technical expertise to the needs of facilitators, participants and researchers. He translates complex training and operational requirements into practical tools for immersive learning, collaborative decision-making and debriefing.
His work spans Hydra’s in-room and remote environments, including Hydra in the Cloud, Hydra Presence and 10,000 Volts (10kV). Bringing together technical leadership and direct development, Adam builds the tools that enable facilitators to deliver immersive exercises, participants to collaborate, and researchers to capture and explore the reasoning behind decisions.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Adam adapted the in-room 10kV debriefing system for remote delivery, enabling UK emergency-response organisations to participate in mid-crisis debriefing sessions with up to 400 contributors. This allowed participants to share operational experience while the response was still unfolding, helping the research team produce timely reports for central and local government.
